Here at Hashtag Creative, we like to think of ourselves as a creative bunch. I mean, the clue is in the name. And it’s just as well that we’re creative. These uncertain times have businesses scrambling to find new ways of virtual working, reinventing themselves, and trying to stay afloat. In short, we have to think outside the box.

The pandemic restricts businesses in many ways. In the wise words of the visionary that is MC Hammer, ‘You Can’t Touch This.’ We are erring on the side of caution in order to protect our staff and clients, and although this can present challenges, it’s not impossible. The show must go on, and we need to keep creating marketing people love.

Social media is still a powerful avenue to connect with our customers and clients. Let’s utilize the fact that many people are home right now and bored, running out of Tiger King episodes to watch on Netflix, still wondering desperately what became of Joe Exotic. Let’s catch their eye with marketing that allows us to continue during this challenging time. Let’s continue to deliver dynamic content across social media platforms.

Like many, we’re relying on virtual working to move forward. Here’s our guide to getting the most out of virtual working.

Virtual working top 5

  1. Much of our work can be conducted over email and phone, and instead of
meeting face to face, many businesses are opting for virtual meetings to avoid the risk of contact with others. There are many tools for virtual working such as Google Hangout, Whatsapp, Zoom, WebEx, and Teams. Get to know the various methods and which suits your business best.
  2. Look the part. OK, we get it. You’re working from home. It’s not exactly
tailored suit and shoulder pad territory. Sweat pants are the new norm.
However, make the effort to groom yourself before any meeting, virtual or not. And always look presentable from the waist up – those shorts and sandals might be a crime against fashion, but your secret is safe with us.
  3. Have fun. Did you know that some applications such as Zoom or Teams allow you to change the background? Choose a cool, sleek, modern home or a beach background. Much more interesting than your laundry pile. Many video conferencing tools offer more than just face to face interactions. Some let users exchange files, chat via text, share their screen, and more.
  4. Use virtual working to draw in your customers. Some tools allow you to
address customer support queries live or even interact with customers in real-time. Try webinars and marketing events to engage customers.
  5. Mute your mic! Background noises such as kids, dogs, and washing machines can really disrupt a virtual meeting, and you may not be aware of what sounds can carry across from your home.
